Chevy Colorado used to be a repackaged Isuzu DMax and was first released in Thailand in March 2004 but 2012 Chevy Colorado has carved its own path. Chevy Colorado available in 2500 cc and 2800 cc Diesel versions has married look of Chevy Malibu and Chevy Cruze sedans with its traditional macho looks. It is slightly bigger. It gives better torque and performance and a lot better handling than the earlier versions.
GM Chevrolet Colorado created a sensation in the marketplace because it was a fantastic truck and 2014, 2015 model is best Colorado ever. It combined Japanese quality and engineering of diesel experts Isuzu and American styling thanks to GM. Isuzu was the lead engineer in the partnership with GM that developed the new GMT 355 platform, which serves the Colorado and GMC Canyon. Isuzu and GM shared responsibility for styling and common component design. In 2001, the teams started individual programs and developed separate powertrain strategies. This feature is not available on the D-Max. The Thai-market Colorado received a minor redesign in late 2007.

Chevy Colorado Duramax Diesel Engine
The newly developed 2500 cc and 2800 cc dieel engines are the newest members of the Duramax truck-engine family. They feature overhead cams, turbocharging and durable aluminum cylinder heads for high levels of refinement and durability.
Designed to offer class-leading torque, reliability and excellent fuel economy, the four-cylinder Duramax engines were tested in extreme conditions in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. They meet the advanced Euro IV emission standard and can be used in front-, rear- or all-wheel-drive applications.
Additionally, they were subjected to the same rigorous validation process as the Duramax 6.6-liter turbo diesel, which is sold primarily in North America. The 2009 Colorado is available in Singe Cab (S-Cab), Extra or Extended Cab (X-Cab) and Double Cab (C-Cab) packages with a total of 28 models. Each package either a 2.5-litre or 3.0-litre engine, two- or four-wheel drive, and automatic or four-speed manual transmission.
The Chevrolet Colorado X-Treme Limited Edition comes equipped with four different sets of accessories for each of the four different models available.

Chevrolet Colorado is a proud successor to the legendary S-series trucks that redefined the small-truck segment by grafting the handling and performance characteristics of a midsize sedan (MacPherson IFS, V-6 power) onto a compact pickup platform.
Bigger, bolder and more refined than any compact Chevy truck in years, the Colorado is an all-new pickup from Chevrolet. Slightly larger than the S-10 truck that it replaces, the Colorado features all-new engines, additional class-exclusive features and a tough new look that makes it instantly recognizable as a Chevrolet pickup. Built on a stout ladder frame chassis, the Colorado offers three body styles, two- and four-wheel drive and a choice of two new Vortec inline engines. Derived directly from the 4.2-liter straight six found in the TrailBlazer SUV, the Colorado’s all-aluminum four- and five-cylinder power plants are the most technologically advanced engines ever offered in a compact Chevrolet truck. Both engines use dual-overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and electronic throttle control to deliver a broad range of peak torque that extends from 1,200 to 5,600 rpm on the standard 2.8-liter four-cylinder, and from 1,400 to 5,200 rpm on the optional 3.5-liter five-cylinder. Both engines offer a choice of a four-speed automatic or a new five-speed manual.
The suspension consists of a solid rear axle with leaf springs and an independent coil spring front suspension. An off-road package swaps out the coil springs for torsion bars, while a sport package adds an anti-sway bar in back. Off-road enthusiasts will also appreciate the Colorado’s dual-speed push-button transfer case as well as the optional locking rear differential. Since the majority of compact truck buyers purchase their vehicles for personal use, the Colorado was given a more refined and feature-laden cabin than the previous S-10. The overall design is simple, with rotary dials for the climate control system and a large radio faceplate for easy control of the XM Satellite Radio-compatible audio system. Materials quality still isn’t great, but build quality has improved considerably, so expect fewer loose trim pieces and smaller panel gaps.
Extended cab models feature reverse-opening rear doors on both sides for easier access to the backseats, while the large crew cab models offer a 60/40-split folding rear seat that can seat three adults, according to Chevrolet. Regardless of whether the cabs are comfortable or not, segment-first side curtain airbags are available that provide head protection in the event of a side impact or rollover accident. Standard antilock brakes and optional traction control on 2WD models further contribute to the Colorado’s complement of safety features. All things considered, the Colorado offers all the necessary ingredients to satisfy the majority of compact truck buyers. Its range of engines provides both efficiency and power, and with three body styles to choose from in both two- and four-wheel drive, finding a perfect fit shouldn’t be too difficult. Although its old-tech S-10 predecessor has kept Chevrolet off the minds of many compact truck buyers as of late, the Colorado has the hardware to make Chevrolet a legitimate competitor in this segment once again.
Colorado has intelligent power plants that perform the way you need them to, including an available Vortec 3500 I-5 engine that generates the horsepower of a V6 with the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder.
